Demokritos & MyBee

The Greek company Mybee is pleased to announce the collaboration with Scientific & Nursing Institutions. The research on antimicrobial activity was undertaken by Dr. Mamoucha S. and Dr. Probona A., from the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos“, Institute of Life Sciences and Applications Department, as well as the Deputy Director of the Microbiology Department of the Army Fund Nursing Facility (NIMTS) Mr. Liapis.

It is about a project that focuses on the in vitro antimicrobial activity of Propolis. Mybee utilizes the family tradition in beekeeping and specializes in natural cosmetics with raw materials from the natural wealth of Karditsa, such as Propolis, honey, beeswax, rose oil, sunflower oil, and mountain herbs.

It is well known that common cosmetic creams due to their high water content (60-70%) require the addition of strong chemical preservatives. On the contrary, the products of Mybee are mainly made of Propolis, whose biological properties make it possible to produce concentrated, natural products without impurities of harmful chemicals.

As part of the collaboration, the company has already sent Propolis samples, collected from the area of Morfovouni Karditsa (Lake Plastira), so as to be tested in the laboratory for the presence of bioactive molecules.

The first results of the research were announced at the 16th Panhellenic Scientific Conference of the Hellenic Botanical Society, which was held in Athens on October 10-13, 2019. Another work has been submitted to the 46th Annual Panhellenic Medical Conference, which will be held in Athens on May 13-16-2020 and at the same time the writing of the article is completed in order to submit to a distinguished Medical Journal.
